Process

All of my pieces are built using traditional methods of construction with concessions to modern tooling. Mortise and tenon joints fixed with wooden pegs, spline and tongue and groove joining of long boards, hand dovetailed drawers, chamfered door panels, hand punched tin panels, and countersunk top screws covered with wood dowels for strength and a look of old pegged tops and side boards. These methods assure a tight fit and strong and lasting joint while giving an appearance of early construction. I use the widest boards possible and when forced to use thinner boards will glue them up and join them in a manner that suggests the use of wide boards throughout. Furniture is finished using my own hand mixed stains and covered with your choice of top coat: hand applied polyurethane, finishing oil (indoor and outdoor to suit the intended use) or hand applied hard wax.
